Abstract

143,657. Wilkie, W. March 10, 1919. Ironing-machines with pressure only; feeding- arrangements.-Comprises improvements on the machine described in Specification 116,793. The coat sleeve or trouser leg &c. is pulled over the movable heated tube C and beneath the fixed heated tube B to open the seam, by a clip E<1> on a swinging rod H operated by a link G connected to a treadle F swung from the point F<2>. The lower heated tube C is held at an adjustable distance beneath the tube B by a wedge D which takes beneath the piece D<1> fixed to the sliding rod E carrying the tube C. The wedge D is operated by a rod O<3> connected to the lever O<1> with catch O<2> engaging a rack O. The tube C is forced up against the tube B by rods L resting on horizontal levers K pivoted on a cross-bar K<2> and operated by links M attached to a treadle J, itself operated by a treadle I with pawl N' engaging a rack N. A counterweight P normally lifts the treadle J by links M<1>.
