Abstract

1436482 Oil-extended chloroprene polymer latex E I DU PONT DE NEMOURS & CO 10 May 1974 [14 May 1973] 20859/74 Heading C3P Chloroprene polymer latex is prepared by polymerizing chloroprene, optionally with up to 20 wt. per cent of a comonomer in aqueous emulsion at 25-35‹ C. using a free-radical initiator, and thereafter mixing with the latex, 15-25 parts by wt. per 100 parts by wt. of polymer, of an aromatic oil. The oil is preferably of the type classified by ASTM D 2226-65T as type 101 or 102. The oil may be in aqueous emulsion before mixing with the chloroprene latex. The oil permits easy processing of the chloroprene rubber.
