Abstract

1436458 Catalyst for hydrocracking oils UOP Inc 20 Aug 1973 [21 Aug 1972] 39202/73 Heading C5E [Also in Division B1] Petroleum or heavy petroleum fractions are hydrocracked in the presence of a catalyst composition comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate-alumina support which is substantially free from amorphous silica and contains less than 4% wt. sodium and a hydrogenation component thereon comprising a Group VIII metal component and a Group VIb metal component in a weight ratio of 1À5 : 1 to 9 : 1 (calculated as metals). Example II describes the use of a presulphided nickel-molybdenum on magnesium-exchanged faujasite-alumina catalyst to hydrocrack a 400‹ F. vacuum gas oil fraction at a l.h.s.v. of 0À6, a pressure of 2000 p.s.i.g., a temperature of 738À5‹ F. and a hydrogen feed rate of 10,000 s.e.f. per barrel to give a product having a C 5+ yield of 108À7 liquid volume per cent and a C 4 yield of 17À6 liquid volume per cent.
