1436085 Modulating light SUWA SEIKOSHA KK 9 July 1974 [31 July 1973] 30396/74 Heading H4F In a display arrangement comprising an electro-optic liquid crystal cell and at least one linear polarizer of the absorbing type on a common optical path, the or at least one of the polarizers has a transmittance towards normally incident unpolarized white light of 38-15%. As particularly described, the cell is a 90 degree "twist" cell comprising glass substrates and a polarizer with the specified transmittance bonded to the outer surface of each substrate. A white light scattering plate is mounted on one polarizing plate.
