Abstract

1435254 Measuring instrument MITUTOYO SEISAKUSHO KK 6 Aug 1974 [15 Aug 1973] 34598/74 Heading G1M A measuring instrument comprises a linear member 1 carrying a rack 2 and a slider 6, the movement of the slider being indicated separately by two pointers 13, 14 co-operating with different scales, and the pointers 13, 14 being driven from respective pinions 3, 4 meshing with the rack 2. Pointer 13 is driven from pinion 3 via gears 5, 9 and shaft 10. Pointer 14 is driven from pinion 15 via gears 17, 11. Backlash is prevented by means of gears 18, 18' which are rotatably mounted on the shaft carrying gear 17, are linked to gear 17 by spiral springs 20, 21' and are meshed respectively with gears 9, 11. One scale may be graduated in imperial units and the other in metric. The instrument may be a slide calliper or a height gauge.
