Abstract
1435124 Signal transmission circuit FERRANTI Ltd 21 Feb 1974 [10 March 1973] 11674/73 Heading G1N An electric circuit for transmitting information representative of the values of two physical quantities over a single conductor X includes a potentiometer RV 1 of which the wiper is positioned in accordance with the value of the first physical quantity to provide a D.C. voltage representing it, a high-input impedance unity gain amplifier A1 to the input of which the D.C. voltage is applied; a variable resistance RV2 representing the magnitude of the other quantity and connected between the amplifier output and the single conductor X, and a decoder including a further amplifier A2 to the input of which the single conductor is connected, a constant current source CS connected through a first switch S1 to the input of the further amplifier, a second amplifier A3 connected through capacitor C to the output of the further amplifier A2 and a second switch S2 operable to ground the input of the second amplifier. When S 1 is open and S2 is closed, the voltage from RV1 is transferred via Al and A2 to output terminal T 1 while the voltage at T2 is zero. With S1 closed and S2 open i 1 flows from CS through X and RV2 producing volt drop i 1 RV2 across it. The output of A2 drops correspondingly as does the voltage across C which drop is provided at terminal T2. A second embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) provides for three physical quantities.
