Abstract
1434781 Reciprocating conveyers EIMCO (GREAT BRITAIN) Ltd 8 Feb 1974 [8 Feb 1973] 6237/73 Heading B8A [Also in Division E1] A slushing device for use adjacent a longwall face F comprises two spaced drums 2, 4, each driven by a respective fluid-pressure operable (as described, hydraulic) reversible motor, or set of motors MF, a pair of ropes 6, 8 extending between the drums and a bucket 10, and a fluid flow control system (A), Fig. 3 (not shown), for the motors. The control system permits each drum to be rotated independently of the other and in either direction, and also permits both drums to be driven simultaneously, one drum winding-in its rope while the other unwinds its rope. When both drums are driven simultaneously the two motors, or sets of motors, are connected in series by the control system, so that exhaust fluid from the motor(s) of the winding-in drum is ducted to drive the motor(s) of the unwinding drum. The series-connection of the motors is capable of communicating with a low-pressure return line (32) via an adjustable restrictor (40), an adjustment of the restrictor permitting variation of the speed of the unwinding drum. The slushing device is fastened to roof supports (3), Fig. 2 (not shown), and is automatically carried forwards as the supports are moved forwards.
