Abstract
1434763 Selecting cards M G SCHIMMERLING 8 May 1973 [10 May 1972] 21976/73 Heading G4M A card for use in a card selecting cabinet has at its upper edge a strip of rigid plastics material which at each end along the top edge carries coding fingers 11 and has in spaced positions between the ends replaceable dogs 14 engageable with recesses in the strip. The dogs which carry coding fingers are of the same thickness as the strip and contain regions received in complementary regions in the strip (indicated as dotted regions a, b, g, f, h in Fig. 5). The dogs snap into position on the strip. The strip has slits 32 receiving the corners of the card and upwardly extending lugs received in openings in the card. A filing cabinet has rods 37 received in C- shaped openings 36 at each end of the strip. The rods may be covered with adhesive tape if they fail to grip the strips due to wear of the openings. A carriage running on a toothed rack on a guide rail 50 carries a driven roller 41 arranged to successively raise cards to a tilted position as the carriage advances. The carriage also carries rollers 53, 54 displaced transversely and longitudinally relative to roller 41 to engage selected fingers to depress unwanted cards. The cabinet may have a guide rail and toothed rack at each side over which the carriage can run.
