Abstract

1,210,458. Filing papers &c. J. B. GUEST, and K. E. J. GUEST. 14 April, 1969 [26 July, 1968], No. 35674/68. Heading B6E. A document sorting file comprises a base 11, Fig. 2, having upturned side walls 15, 16 to define horizontal guide rails 19, 20 which cooperate with rollers 28, 29 mounted at free ends of rods 24 which form part of pivotal dividers 13, the rollers being pressed into co-operation with the guide rails by a pressure pad 12 urged resiliently upwardly by elastic blocks 22, 22a or springs (not shown). The pressure pad 12 is constituted by a vulcanized fibre board 21 which is backed by one or more cardboard sheets 21a and the elastic blocks 22, 22a resting on cardboard strips 50, 51 are made of highly resilient synthetic plastics material. Each divider 13 comprises a stiff sheet 23 of manilla or vulcanized fibre and is provided at the top edge with an identification strip. The dividers are maintained in spaced positions by plastics spacing strips 40, Fig. 1, and the end dividers 13 are associated with end plates 32, 33 provided with locking lugs 36, 37 which are engaged by the yokes of locking means formed by the yokes, handles 34, 35 and end pieces 38 located pivotally in blocks 39 which are trapped between the guide rails 19, 20 and pressure pad 12.
