Abstract
718,862. Filing papers. ROSS, H. H. July 31, 1953 [Jan. 5, 1953], No. 310/53. Class 146(1) Locking followers. A locking follower for a card filing system comprises a vertical plate with sideways extensions at each vertical side edge diverging from one side of the plate and rollers mounted substantially horizontally towards the upper and lower ends of each extension, resilient or spring means urging the set of rollers on one extension apart from the set on the other extension so that the distance between them is greater than the width of the tray or drawer holding the cards. The follower 7 comprises a plate 9 with turned over upper and lower edges 10 which receive the ends 11 of resilient wire frames 12, comprising horizontal parallel limbs 13 on which rollers 14 are mounted. The rollers 14 are loose sleeves made of, or surfaced with, rubber or a synthetic plastic. A holding device 15 for manipulation of the follower is secured centrally of the plate 9. The follower 7 is introduced into the tray 6 against cards 5 by direct downward movement, the frames 12 being pressed inwardly by the sides 8 of the tray to the position shown. The device may be tilted when in position to assist inspection of the cards 5.
