Abstract

1434127 Rotatable and vertically adjustable seat pedestal FREEDMAN SEATING CO 22 May 1973 [2 April 1973] 24264/73 Heading A4J [Also in Division E2] A pedestal on which a seat is mounted for rotation and vertical adjustment comprises a telescopic column which includes an intermediate tube 34 rotatable relative to the inner tube 33 but not relative to the outer tube 32, and locked against rotation relative to the inner tube 33 by the frictional engagement of a pin 52 extending through aligned holes in the outer and intermediate tubes with the surface of the inner tube, the pin 52 being selectively engageable with one of a number of holes 35 in the intermediate tube to alter the length of the column. Movement of the pin 52 is effected by the rotation about an axis 66 of a handle of a three position toggle linkage. The handle 31 has a threader shaft 60 engaged with a nut 65 pivotally connected to a channel member 50 welded to the outer tube and journalled in a block 61 pivotally connected between two parallel links (55) 56 to which the pin 52 is pivoted. Rotation of the handle about the axis of the shaft 60 produces a fine adjustment of the position of pin 52 relative to the tubes.
