Abstract

1439278 Adjustable head rests AMERICAN OPTICAL CORP 11 Sept 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 42714/73 Heading A4J An adjustable head rest comprises an arm 10 pivotally mounted on one end of a link 12 having its other end pivotally mounted on a bracket 15 adapted for attachment to a chair, the head rest being locked in the adjusted position by the engagement of teeth on the ends of two shafts 25 slidably mounted in the link 12 with splines on bearings 13, 14 forming the pivotal connections of the link with the arm and bracket. The teeth are moved into engagement with the splines by a manually rotatable cam 50 placed between the two shafts and biased out of engagement by two sprigs 30, (30') Fig. 2 (not shown) connected between the shafts 25, and link 12.
