Abstract

143,408. Wade, H., (Cole, A. L.). June 10, 1919. Air tubes and chambers. -The inner tube of a pneumatic tyre is formed by securing together by stitching 12, the edges of endless bands 10, 11, these edges extending outwardly and being secured between the beads 7 of the outer cover 6 and the flanges 25 of the divided rim. The band 11 is of greater width than the band 10, and is domed to fill the interior of the cover 6. Gussets 14 of any suitable material may be inserted between the edges of the bands 10, 11. The flanges 25 are provided with dependent rings 20 by which they are secured to the felloe, and have beads 26 at their outer edges to prevent rim-cutting.
