Abstract

1434006 Dispensing labels; blister packs BRUNTON & WILLIAMS Ltd 18 April 1973 [18 Jan 1972] 2411/72 Headings B8C and B8M A device for dispensing self-adhesive labels or the like 10 from a reel 12 of flexible backing strip 14 bearing on one face a plurality of the labels or the like spaced along the strip, comprises a support in the form of a sheet 16, and a vacuum-formed plastics container 18 fixed to one face of the support and adapted to contain the reel 12 with the axis of the reel perpendicular to the plane of the support in such a manner that the reel can rotate about its axis within the container, the container having a mouth 40 through which the strip can be drawn from the reel. The device also includes guide means for guiding the strip as it is drawn from the reel so that the strip is twisted to run generally parallel to the plane of the support with the face of the strip bearing the labels or the like facing away from the surface of the support, and a straight edge portion 38 of the support over which the strip can pass and be bent so that each label or the like is released from the backing strip. As described the container 18 and the guide means, which has an upper wall 36 are integrally vacuum moulded from transparent plastics material. A flange 44 of the container is adhered to the support 16 which may be of card, or is trapped between two layers of card. The support may have further guide means in the form of slots 46, 48 for the backing strip 14. The labels 10 may be on the inside or outside of the wound backing strip which is twisted accordingly by the guide means.
