Abstract

1433354 Hot plate units JENN-AIR CORP 4 May 1973 21256/73 Heading F4W A cooking stove includes at least one sheet metal recess 18, 20 having in the bottom thereof a grease outlet; an electrical bayonet-type connection means (46, Fig. 8) disposed within each recess; and first and second types of electrical cooking units either or both of which may be removably received in said recess or recesses with the terminals of each electrical cooking unit being disposed within the connection means with the aid of a locating pin. The first type of cooking unit, a unitized cartridge type cooking unit comprises an upper cooking surface heated by electrical resistance means, e.g. a glasscovered hot plate 12 or a hot plate having ring- shaped elements in the same plane as the cooking surface. The second type of cooking unit is for open broiling and comprises an open spacedapart electric resistance element 26 which may be beneath a grill 14, a rotisserie or a kebab unit. The recesses include support surfaces 90 to enable the cooking units to be disposed in position. Ventilating air is drawn in through entrance 16 into a plenum chamber 15, thereby inducing air from beneath the cooking units via openings 62.
