1433195 Selective signalling BRITISH NUCLEAR FUELS Ltd 12 June 1974 [18 June 1973] 28908/73 Heading G4H An alarm system comprises a TV camera in a closed circuit TV link for scanning a plurality of visual indicators on a group alarm board of a plant, and controlling a remotely-disposable alarm via analysis circuitry, there being automatic self-testing facilities for the alarm system. As disclosed, a plurality of TV cameras scan respective arrays of alarm lamps, the cameras feeding respective alarm units which each have an alarm lamp and feed the remote alarm (audible and optical) via a respective manual accept switch (with indicator). In response to the remote alarm, the operator can operate the accept switch, freeing the remote alarm for actuation in response to another one of the alarm units, and he can operate a selector switch to connect the relevant TV camera to a TV monitor. Each alarm unit involves separation from and comparison with sync. pulses of the camera video output to detect unacceptably low signal level or camera misalignment, using test lamps within or outside the arrays of alarm lamps.
