Abstract
1432917 Reciprocating pumps H J SANGEN and W J MCMILLAN 1 May 1974 [2 May 1973] 19109/74 Heading F1A A pump, e.g. for concrete, comprises telescopic tubes 12, 14 defining a pumping chamber 16, one tube being reciprocable relative to the other. As shown, tube 14 is reciprocated by a hydraulic cylinder 30, and tube 12 is stationary and connected to a supply 20 via an inlet pinch valve 38 comprising a flexible tube 34, e.g. of steel meshreinforced rubber, closable by rollers 42, 44 on a lever assembly actuated by a hydraulic cylinder 58, or by pneumatic or electrical means. Alternatively, one roller may pinch tube 34 against a platen. Delivery takes place via a tapered outlet member 23 and an outlet valve (28), Fig. 1b (not shown), of similar construction to the inlet valve, a flexible delivery pipe being connected to the outlet valve to compensate for movement of tube 14. Seals 84, 86 between tubes 12, 14 define a flushing chamber 88 through which flushing liquid, e.g. water, is insulated via inlet 92, jacket 91, ports 94 and outlet 93. In Fig. 3 (not shown), the outer tube (114) is stationary and the inner tube (112) is reciprocated, the inner tube being connected via the inlet valve to a tube (111) with a flared inlet (113) reciprocable within the supply hopper (120) to charge the pumping chamber.
