Abstract
1432779 Thermal regenerators; recovering waste heat G APPLEGATE 5 July 1973 [25 Aug 1972] 39674/72 Headings F4K and F4V A space heating system incorporates a rotary thermal regenerator 13 serving to exchange heat between exhaust combustion gases from a gas-fired boiler 10 flowing through a by-pass duct 12 and air flowing through a ducting system 20. A damper 14 in the main boiler flue 11 is provided to control the flow of combustion gases through the by-pass duct 12. Fans 15 and 23 are included in the ducts 12 and 20 respectively. An auxiliary heater 25 positioned in the ducting 20 downstream of the regenerator is supplied with heating medium from the boiler 10, the flow of heating medium to the heater 25 being controlled automatically in dependence of the temperature of the heated air as sensed by a thermostat 26.
