Abstract
1432762 Injection moulding machines BNF METALS TECHNOLOGY CENTRE 8 May 1973 [10 Feb 1972] 6260/72 Heading B5A [Also in Division B3] In a die casting or injection moulding process in which at least one core 10 is removably located in the die cavity, means 14 senses when the temperature of the cast material falls to a predetermined value and generates a signal, this signal being used to initiate removal of the core from the cavity. The signal may also be used to initiated the die opening sequence after a set time delay. Alternatively, the core withdrawal movement may be used to trigger a limit switch which initiates die opening directly or after a set time delay. In another embodiment a separate sensed temperature is used to initiate die opening. More than one temperature sensor may be provided. The circuit for controlling operation of the machine is similar to that disclosed in Specification 1,288,037 and is such that initiation of the core removal step takes place only if the temperature sensed by the means 14 rises above and then falls below the said predetermined value. Alternatively, a timing device 15 may be used to prevent premature removal of the core. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,288,037.
