Abstract

1431983 Effluent cleaning agent A HEIDRICH 17 May 1973 [17 May 1972] 23572/73 Addition to 1381678 Heading C1C [Also in Division C5] An effluent cleansing agent comprises : sodium tripolyphosphate sprayed with sodium hydroxide or sodium hexametaphosphate sprayed with sodium hydroxide; sodium aluminate; chloroiso-cyanuric acid or the salts thereof; and the sulphate, chloride or oxide of magnesium. As further ingredients a calcium compound (e.g. chloride or oxide) may be used, and in addition a diphosphate, silicic acid, a filter aid (e.g. wood-meal), active carbon, and an ammonium compound (e.g. magnesium ammonium phosphate) may be present. The cleansing agent may be used to treat industrial effluent contaminated with fats, greases, mineral oils and soot, as well as dairy effluent, moorland or marshy water or degreasing baths. The efficacy of the cleansing agent may be further increased if the effluent treated with the cleansing agent is then passed through an electric field.
