1431873 Hydroxybenzene derivatives BAYER AG 19 April 1974 [19 April 1973] 17252/74 Heading C2C [Also in Division C3] An isomoric mixture of α,α<SP>1</SP>-bis-(hydroxyphenyl)-diisopropyl benzenes is prepared by reacting α,α<SP>1</SP>-dihydroxy-m- and -p-diisopropylbenzene with phenol in the presence of phosphoric acid or hydrazine dihydrogen phosphate as catalyst, then adding NaOH and distilling off the excess phenol, and after a suitable purification treatment, evaporating a solution of the product in an organic solvent, followed by fractional distillation.
