Abstract

1431757 Agitating apparatus DERRITRON ELECTRONICS LTD 14 June 1973 [15 June 1972] 28027/72 Heading B1C [Also in Division F2] An electromagnetic vibrator 12 is mounted so as to be capable of vibrating a load at any angle between the horizontal and the vertical the mounting comprising a base 10, an unsprung support 17 mounted (by horizontal trunnions, not shown) on the base so as to be adjustable through at least 90‹ about a horizontal axis, a sprung support 40, to which the vibrator is attached, mounted on the unsprung support 17 by guiding means (rods 26, 27 sliding in bearings 22-25 in bosses 18-21 fast with the unsprung support 17) so as to be constrained to move relatively to it along an axis of vibration perpendicular to the abovementioned horizontal axis, and at least one pair of oppositely acting springs 29, 30 mounting the sprung support 40 on the unsprung support 17, the bias afforded by each spring being individually adjustable. The springs are air bags, two at each side of the vibrator, supplied from pneumatic reservoirs housed in beams 11 connecting end frames 10. When the vibrator is effecting vertical vibrations, the lower bags 32 are inflated, and the upper bags 31 kept at atmospheric pressure. When the vibrator has been rotated to effect horizontal vibrations, all springs are inflated to the same pressure.
