Abstract

1431675 Electro-physical measurement; yarn defects ASAHI KASEI KOGYO KK 26 March 1973 [24 March 1972] 14377/73 Heading G1N The invention relates to a scanning type monitoring system for a large number of yarns which are being manufactured simultaneously. To avoid missing intermittent defect signals occurring in the inter-scan period, the sensors are connected to temporary stores. As shown Fig. 1, a plurality of yarns 100. 100+n - pass through capacitor sensors 4, and defect signals (due to e.g. pills) are stored in binary memories 5 employing SCR's 6. Scan contacts 14a..14n are operated sequentially e.g. for 10 seconds every 20 minutes to transfer the instant and stored signals to read-outs 19, 20 and towards the end of the sampling period contact 18 closes for e.g. 2 seconds to reset the memory. The signals read out at 19, 20 may be passed to a further information processing device 21 such as a computer to control the machines. Figs. 2, 3 (not shown) provide diagrams of the signal sampling, storing and contact operating cycles.
