Abstract

1431652 Hot top liners for ingot moulds FOSECO INTERNATIONAL Ltd 29 March 1973 [30 March 1972] 15136/72 Heading B3F [Also in Division F4] A liner for a hot top comprises a plurality of separate adjacent slabs 1, 2, 3 of heat-insulating refractory material or of exothermic material connected by a flexible sheet 4 which is contained inside each slab and emerges from the edges thereof at ridges having an included angles of less than 120 degrees (preferably less than 90 degrees). The sheet may contain meshed or unmeshed Al or steel wires or may be made of a glass fibre web or of a textile. Apertures may be provided so that the slabs can be applied to a mould from holding pins in an automatic dispenser.
