Abstract

1431510 Axial-flow fans NORDISK VENTILATOR CO AS 21 Jan 1974 [22 Jan 1973] 2795/74 Heading F1C An impeller blade for a variable-pitch axialflow fan comprises a pivot pin 6 having a screw threaded engagement 16 with the blade root 15. A portion 17 of smaller diameter than the root diameter of the screw thread and a portion 18 of larger diameter than the outer diameter of the screw thread fit into corresponding parts of the bore in the blade root 15 to relieve the screw thread of forces radial to the pin 6. The portions 17, 18 are cylindrical or conical. To prevent the pin 6 turning relative to the root 15, a screw 20 is screwed into the root with a plain shank 22 engaging a hole in a ring 19 which is shrunk on to the pin or formed integral with it. A screw 25 engages a reduced-diameter portion 26 of the screw 20 between the threaded part 21 and the shank 22 to hold the screw 20 captive. As a further precaution against turning of the pin 6 relative to the root 15, the ring 19 engages mutually eccentric portions 23, 24 of the pin. Balancing arms 10 are filled with lead 11.
