Abstract

1431122 Joist hangers D W WORDSWORTH E T ASTON and J R LOACH 19 Aug 1974 [21 Aug 1973] 39451/73 Heading E1W A joist hanger 9 comprises a metal shoe 10 pressed from a single sheet and an anchoring means 12. The shoe has a back wall 11 a bottom flange 13 and a pair of spaced gusset side plates 14 each being integral with either the back wall 11 or the flange 13 and having tongue and slot interlocking means 17, 18 which mutually locks together the side plates, bottom flange and back wall. In an alternative embodiment the back wall may be formed in two parts by the mutual interengagement of dovetailed tongues and slots on flanges integral with the gussets, see Figs. 14-17, not shown. The shoe and anchoring means may be separate elements joined by interlocking formations.
