Abstract

1430655 Separating air from fuel vapour PARKER-HANNIFIN CORP 3 April 1973 15839/73 Headings B1B and B1L A fuel vapour recovery apparatus comprises an absorber 9 having first spray means 78 in the head space of tank 53, means 76 for withdrawing liquid fuel from the tank, refrigerating means 10 for cooling the withdrawn liquid fuel and means for supplying the cooled fuel to said first spray means and second means 73 for withdrawing further liquid from the tank and supplying it to second spray means 75. Air/ fuel vapour vent gases may be passed to the absorber via receiving apparatus 5, saturator 6 and compressor unit 8. The saturator 6 comprises tank 20 having a vent gas spray head 28, liquid spray head 29, pump 22 controlled by high-low level switch 25, safety switch 26 and safety vent 27. Unit 8 comprises compressor 33 having a drain line 132 passing to tank 20 via check valve 133, and float tank 134 having a float controlled compressor switch 135 mounted therein. The liquid fuel level is maintained in absorber tank 53 by means of drain line 54 and controlled by valve 55 which is itself controlled by float valve 56. Tank 53 also includes static screen 59, air vent 81 leading through flame arrestor 83 and fail-open safety valve 79.
