Abstract
1429872 Refrigerating BORG-WARNER CORP 29 May 1973 [7 July 1972] 25392/73 Heading F4H A refrigerating system comprises a compressor 10, a condenser 12, a constant pressure expansion device 14, an evaporator 16 with a fan 17 for blowing air into a space to be cooled and a superheat regulating valve 25. The valve 25 maintains a predetermined superheat of refrigerant flowing to the compressor. Means are provided for establishing a control signal which is a function of the temperature of air within the controlled space and for applying the signal to the device 14. As shown, the means comprises a thermal bulb 52 and a capillary 50. In use, for bringing down the temperature of a vehicle standing in the sun, diaphragm 40 will be pushed downwards allowing a high evaporator pressure and consequently a relatively quick drop in the car temperature. As the car reaches a normal temperature, the bulb pressure falls until a predetermined control point is reached and the evaporator pressure is at a point slightly above the temperature at which freezing may occur on the evaporator coils.
