1429757 Modified cross-linked resins BAYER AG 18 June 1974 [23 June 1973] 5959/75 Divided out of 1429756 Heading C3P Insoluble absorber resins comprise crosslinked polymers containing aromatic nuclei substituted by an average of 0À05-1À20 chloromethyl groups per nucleus, said groups having been partially reacted with ammonia, a primary or secondary amine, or a polyamine containing primary or secondary amine groups, to yield a product having a ratio of aminomethyl to chloromethyl groups in the range from 1 : 99 to 90 : 10. In examples, styrene/divinyl benzene resins are chloromethylated and reacted with ammonia or diethylamine. Use.-Treatment of drinking water or sewage (see Specification 1,429,756).
