Abstract

1429704 Chromating metal surfaces DIAMOND SHAMROCK CORP 28 Nov 1973 [29 Nov 1972] 55219/73 Heading B2E [Also in Division C7] A metal, e.g. steel substrate, is contacted with a chromating solution, dried, placed in face to face contact with a surface by e.g. coiling, and then cured. In an example the solution may be 962 mls. of water, 2 gms heteropolysaccharide, 0.8 mls. formalin, 32 gms chromic acid, 5.33 gms succinic acid, 2.67 gms succinimide, 2 gms zinc oxide, a non-ionic polyethoxide wetting agent, and 240 gms of zinc divot. A top coat of an alkyd enamel or a paint which may contain electrically conductive pigments may be applied.
