Abstract
1309356 Electro-deposition of resin NIPPON PAINT CO Ltd 29 June 1971 30395/71 Heading C7B [Also in Division C3] Prior to coating ferrous and zinciferrous metal surfaces by a conventional electro-deposition process, e.g. using an alkyl resin type coating, the surfaces are first primed by immersion in a composition comprising (1) 5-550 grams per litre of a film-forming polymer, e. g. a styrenebutadiene copolymer or an acrylic copolymer, (2) 0À3-3À0 grams per litre of hydrogen peroxide, and (3) 10-100 grams per litre of electroconductive carbon, the pH of said compositions being adjusted to 1À6-5À0 by addition of an acid, e. g. HF or H 3 PO 4 . In examples the compositions are aqueous and also contain surfactants and, in Ex 3 only, lead chromate. After electro-deposition, the coating is dried at 170‹C.
