Abstract

1429533 Knitting yarns M TSUNEKAWA 22 March 1973 [28 March 1972] 13772/73 Headings D1C D1K and D1W A circular knitting machine for producing bulky, hollow knitted yarn includes a device T 1 for varying the tension of yarn supplied and/or a device T 4 for varying the take-up tension. The devices may operate separately or together to vary the effect on the yarn produced. Differing loop sizes may also be produced by providing needles of different gauges. The yarn supplied is fed between plates 20, 21 urged together by a spring 22, via a hole 16 in bolt 17. The end 24a of a rotating arm 24 periodically forces the plates apart. The take-up T 4 comprises a drive roller 33 carrying a pair of spaced pegs 34 and a driven roller 32. When the pegs raise roller 32 the take-up tension is interrupted. The yarn B which may be knitted from wool singles, or cotton two-ply yarns has nodules of large loops Yl at intervals along its length.
