Abstract
1429034 Food trollies D G ANDREWS and T GROGAN 25 April 1974 [7 May 1973] 21636/73 Heading B7B [Also in Division F4] A portable electrically heated heat-insulated hot-closet 10, Fig. 1, for food containers and the like has a heat conducting well 20 in its top surface for use as a service counter. To support the containers by rims thereto, there are mounted in the closet L-shaped strips 40, Fig. 7. The strips are attached to plates 42 (41 and 43), Figs. 8 and 9 (not shown). These plates are removably held in vertical position in the closet by studs 37, Fig. 2. The studs 37 are spaced such that containers of different standard lengths (according to British Standard 4874: 1972) can be accommodated. Adjacent the back wall of the closet there is an electric heating element 25 with a foraminated guard 29. The heating element is in circuit with an adjustable thermostatically controlled switch. The closet is constructed of aluminium sheet, is heat-insulated except for the well 20, and is fitted with castors 13. When food is not being served the well 20 can be insulated by a cover of wood insulated with polystyrene foam. The closet can be used for the transport of hot food from a kitchen to points of utilization, the closet being plugged into electric mains while awaiting transportation and also at the point of utilization. There may be arrangements to operate the heater during transportation. Alternatively, the closet may be used as an insulated container for cold food.
