Spray carburettors.-An excessive fuel-flow at high altitudes in aircraft and like engines is prevented by controlling the fuel-flow by a throttling- device actuated by the depression existing in the air-inlet passage. A fuel nozzle b is fed from a float chamber g open at the top to the atmosphere, and discharges into an air-pipe a. The nozzle has a transverse partition c through which is an opening d controlled by a resilient diaphragm f. This diaphragm comprises a central circular part with three radial arms which engage an abutment e. The passage, d is entirely or partly closed by the diaphragm when the engine is at rest. A similar result may be obtained by the use of capillary sections, the effective section of which diminishes with increasing altitude.
