Abstract

1428157 Gaming machines C L ELDER 5 Nov 1973 51263/73 Heading G4V [Also in Division A6] A game machine comprises a slot 18 to receive a token to start a game; a keyboard 15 by means of which a player can select up to three numbers, one for each token inserted, which are displayed in windows 19; a button 16 for activating a random number generator 26 associated with a display 13 each indicator of which is separately lit in a rapidly changing random fashion in dependence upon the output from the generator 26; and a stop button 17 by means of which the plaer attempts to stop the apparatus when that number which is momentarily displayed matches his selection, the generator-derived number then being continuously displayed in a window 30. The two numbers selected respectively by the player and the machine are compared in a memory bank 27 which, in the event of a match, energizes a payout calculator 28 to cause one or more tokens, or a ticket from a printing mechanism 29, to be delivered to the successful player. If the stop button 17 is not pressed, then an automatic timer stops the operation long enough to produce a first number selection, then a second number selection and so on. In a modification Fig. 6 (not shown) the apparatus is used to play a simulated horse-racing game and comprises a plurality of separate player-operated control boxes, a random number display cabinet and a further cabinet depicting a horse race, a player being a participant in a simulated race when he has first successfully matched his three selected numbers with the machine-derived numbers.
