1359852 Game apparatus BELL-FRUIT MFG CO Ltd 17 Feb 1972 [30 April 1971] 12326/71 Heading A6H [Also in Division G4] A gaming machine comprises display means which presents a display of symbols and which operates to change the display in a random manner so as to present successive new displays of symbols, recording means which keeps a record of all or particular symbols occurring in said successive displays, and prize-awarding means which responds according to the symbols recorded during said successive displays and awards prizes for prize-winning combinations of recorded symbols. In the emodiment described the display means comprises, "fruit-machine" reels R1, R2 and R3 bearing numbers around their peripheries, and the recording means includes a display in the form of a "Bingo" card C the numbers on which are illuminated if, after rotation and stopping of the reels, the corresponding numbers are displayed at the centre line of window W. All or only some of the numbers on the reels may appear on the card C. The insertion of a coin in slot S may automatically initiate a game and cause a predetermined number of successive displays. Alternatively after the initial insertion of a coin each successive display may require to be initiated by the player, or the player may have to insert a separate coin for each successive display. Buttons B1, B2 and B3 are provided for optional use by the player to index the corresponding reel by one step, the new number indicated at the centre of window W being illuminated, if present, on card C. The lowermost row of numbers in window W may be used in place of the centre row to indicate numbers which are to be illuminated thus allowing the player to see the next two numbers on each reel. The buttons can only be used twice during a game and their use may be made available to a player on a random basis only. Prizes are awarded for complete rows or columns of numbers on the card C, and may also be awarded for certain combinations of symbols presented at window W in each successive display.
