Abstract

1427589 Moulding frame components A S WEAVER 15 May 1973 [15 May 1972] 23165/73 Heading B5A [Also in Division E1] A pair of L-sectioned door or window frame exhaust pipe 32<SP>1</SP> which co-operates with a partition (26, Fig. 2) or edge sealing strips 35 (see also Fig. 4) in sucking off the exhaust gases so that they sweep across those areas on at least one side of the belt 3, 4 which are not being directly heated by the burners 29 (see also Fig. 2). The endless steel bands 7, 8 may be heated by exhaust gases by feeding the gases along a zig-zag path in a heat exchanger (56, Figs. 8-10) situated adjacent the respective band upstream of the belts 3, 4. The temperature of the plates of a belt 3, 4, may be regulated e.g. 200‹ C., by a thermostat (53, Fig. 7) comprising a pivotally mounted, spring-loaded sensor (49, Fig. 7) and capable of switching on and off two rows of burners 29 at a time in a casing 22-23<SP>1</SP>. elements (see Division E1) are moulded from a foam plastics. Each element comprises either two jamb portions interconnected by a lintel, Fig. 1 (not shown), or two jamb portions interconnected by a lintel and a sill and first flanges 22, 28 of the L-section are interconnectible to form a lap joint or a tongue-and-groove joint. Initially a mould half 108 is sprayed with a barrier coating 114 (which may be pigmented to form a primer layer 49, Fig. 2, on the frame) then filled with a foamable plastics, e.g. polyurethane, plus a foaming agent. The mould is closed whilst the plastics foams. The mould may provide a wood grain pattern on the frame. Holes for nails or screws are provided by retractible rods in the mould, Fig. 10 (not shown). The foamed polyurethane has a density in the range 2 lbs. to 25 lbs., preferably 17 lbs., per cubic foot.
