1427383 Electrophysical measurement gas detectors NATIONAL RESEARCH DEVELOPMENT CORP 25 June 1974 [30 March 1973] 15577/73 Heading G1N In a semi-conductor gas detector according to Specification 1374575 the semi-conductor is now an oxide of uranium (UO 2 or U 3 O 8 ) with metals of the platinum group as primary activators. Traces of manganese or cerium may be used to suppress the effect of hydrocarbons when measuring carbon monoxide. Several examples of activator concentrations and operating temperatures for detecting hydrocarbons and carbon monoxide are given.
