1427174 Removably attaching harvester headers DEERE & CO 9 May 1973 [9 May 1972] 22082/73 Heading A1F A header is removably attached forwardly of a pivotal harvesting machine conveyor by lower, rear header projections which engage within respective locking brackets 16, Fig. 4, fixed to a transverse bar 15 mounted for transverse motion relative to the conveyor, The bar is movable between bracket-projection engagement and disengagement positions. In the simplest form Figs. 2, 3 (not shown) movement is effected by a lever pivotally mounted on the conveyor and lockable in either of the two positions. The header is also removably mounted by upper elements which cooperate with upper elements on the conveyor. In Figs. 4, 5 the bar is held in its projection disengaging position (solid lines) against the bias of tension spring 44 by the engagement of rotatable pawl 48 and bar notch 54. When the header is positioned for mounting it pushes a rod 39 against the bias of a spring 41 such that its attached leaf spring 47 pushes pawl 48 out of the notch 54. Bar 15 then slides under the bias of the spring 44 such that the elements 16 lock the header projections. In Fig. 7, the header pushes spring biassed rod 60 such that its spring loaded slide 61 moves with it to disengage from bar notch 54. For locking the bar 15 in its projection disengaging position against the bias of its spring 44 Fig. 4, the slide is pushed forward into notch 54 by push handle 67 such that a spring loaded ball 63 jumps from a groove 64. The ball re-engages in the groove when the rod moves forward after the header has been removed. In each of the embodiments shown the bar 15 is moved from its projection engaging position by the lever 25.
