Abstract

1426829 Blasting VAR-FOS Ltd 30 May 1974 [9 June 1973] 27567/73 Heading B3D [Also in Division C7] A substrate is electroless plated by subjecting it to a blast, using compressed air, of a mixture of the plating solution and abrasive particles of e.g. alumina. As shown the mixture is blasted through nozzles 12 on to substrate 14, the solution withdrawn by pump 17 to a centrifugal separator 20 from which the solution with large particles is returned to the nozzles 12 while solution with broken down abrasive is fed to settling tanks. The settled solution, after filtering at 33, may be supplied to nozzles 13 to increase the thickness of the plating.
