1426741 Azo dyestuffs from pyridone coupling components IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 11 July 1973 [2 Aug 1972] 36017/72 Heading C4P Novel dyestuffs which contain no SO 3 H groups and have the Formula I where A is an optionally substituted aryl or heterocyolic radical which can contain an arylazo radical, Z is hydrogen or an optionally substituted amino, alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl, aryl or heterocyclic radical, X is H, CN, optionally substituted alkyl, acylamino, -SO 2 R<SP>1</SP>, -SO 2 NR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP>, -COR<SP>1</SP>, -CONR<SP>1</SP>R<SP>2</SP> or -COOR<SP>3</SP> where R<SP>1</SP> and R<SP>2</SP> are H or optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl and R<SP>3</SP> is optionally substituted alkyl, cycloalkyl, aralkyl or aryl, n is 1 or 2, and each of the COOH groups is attached to a C atom present in A, Z or X, may be prepared by azo coupling. The dyestuffs of Formula I may be used to dye aromatic polyester, cellulose acetate and triacetate, synthetic polyamide, polyacrylonitrile, and polyurethane textile materials and blends thereof with natural fibres in yellow or greenishyellow shades.
