1426705 Shoe bottoms KONSTRUKTIONSFIRMA R LINDQVIST AB 3 July 1974 [11 July 1973] 29527/74 Heading A3B A bottom for a shoe-particularly a shoe of the clog type-is made of plastics-bonded mineral-wool fibres. All types of mineral wool may be used such as glass-wool, rookwool, and slag wool; thermosetting resin is preferably used as the plastics binder. The preferred shoe bottom has a volume weight of 300-500 kg/m<SP>3</SP> and is in particular made of glass wool containing 18-20% phenolic resin binder based on phenol and formaldehyde. The binder is sprayed into the spun glass fibres and the impregnated fibres are introduced into a mould which is then closed and heated to the setting temperature of the binder. The shoe bottoms may be covered, for example with leather on the upper side and rubber on the underside.
