Abstract

1426622 Wells &c SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ BV 16 March 1973 12699/73 Heading E1F [Also in Division F2] Apparatus for attachment to an underwater well comprises an oil-filled sealed enclosure 1, a valve housing 25 containing a valve 24 coupled to an electric motor 22 connected to a plug 12 mounted in a holder 11 mounted on the enclosure wall, and a pressure conduit system 30 arranged between the housing and a connection on the wall of the enclosure. Water from the conduit system actuates a wellhead component, such as a valve or connector, an electric circuit and a valve housing being provided for each component. The water may be supplied by a passage 16 in the plug, and the conduit system may include an accumulator 19. A slide valve 38 is incorporated in the conduit system, this valve being actuated by water from the valve 24 so that water from the accumulator actuates a component. The enclosure is formed by compartments 2, 3 and compensating bellows filled with gas may be placed in each compartment.
