Abstract

1426414 Ships storage tanks HITACHI SHIPBUILDING & ENG CO Ltd 15 Feb 1974 [19 Feb 1973] 7065/74 Heading B7S [Also in Division F4P] A heat insulating structure 4 for a liquefied gas storage tank 2 comprises spacers 6 of hard foam synthetic resin material bonded to the outer surface of the tank at fixed intervals. A sheathing joint 9 of H -shaped cross-section is fixed to the outer surface, of each spacer and extends in the direction, of the length of the spacer and sheathing plates 10 are fitted in the opposed grooves 9a, 9b in the joints on adjacent spacers. A layer 7 of elastic material which will not lose its elasticity at low temperatures is fixed to the outer surface of the tank between adjacent spacers and a hard foam synthetic resin layer 12 is formed by foaming-in-place in each of the compartments formed between the sheathing plates and the layer 7 of elastic material.
