Abstract

1426133 Grab buckets POCLAIN 12 March 1974 [18 April 1973] 10934/74 Heading B8H A grab bucket comprises a pair of bucket elements 1 pivotally connected by links 29 to the cylinder 3 of an hydraulic actuator 2 for opening and closing the bucket elements. The elements are also pivotally connected to a bar 22 mounted on the end of a piston-rod 16 for rotation relative thereto about the axis thereof. The piston-rod extends through the end walls 3a, 3b of the cylinder and is connected via a gear housing 7 to a boom 4 of an operating apparatus. A hydraulic motor 11 is mounted on the housing and drives gears 13, 14 coupled to a shaft 15 extending axially of the piston-rod and connected to the bar 22 for effecting rotation of the bucket elements about the axis of the actuator. In an alternative embodiment Fig. 2 (not shown) the piston-rod is formed of two axially aligned and relatively rotatable parts (16a), (16b). The shaft 15 extends through the part (16a) and is coupled to the part (16b). The bar (22a) is secured for rotation with the part (16b). In a further embodiment Fig. 3 (not shown) the output shaft (12a) of the motor (11a) is coaxial with the shaft (15).
