Abstract
142,596. Holworthy, H. F. Aug. 30, 1919. Sparking - plugs. - The earthed terminal is carried by a renewable ring 3 screwed or otherwise secured within the plug body. Two or more members, such as porcelain sleeves 5, 6 separated by a mica washer 7 and reinforced by a mica wrapping 8, constitute the insulation of the plug, the adjacent surfaces of the insulation and casing being conical, so that the compression in the engine tends to increase the gas-tightness of the plug. The outer portion of the plug is protected by a cap 10, the openings 12 in which are provided with ears 14 to improve the circulation of air within the cap.
