Abstract

169,823. Ward, G. H., and Tierney, H. F. July 7, 1920. Sparking-plugs. - The conically seated insulator D surrounds an electrode B the outer end of which has a split spigot A', or a socket, engaged by a connector E'. A skirt H, formed integrally with the connector E<1> or as a separate member, protects the plug insulator. In a modification, Fig. 5, the cable instead of engaging the screw J, is clamped by a setscrew inserted in the part E<1>. The terminal L may be moved within the central conductor for the purpose of adjusting the spark-gap. A liner sprung within the open end of the plug casing may be used to prevent the insulator from coming out.
