Abstract

1425160 Valves BARKING BRASSWARE CO Ltd 1 Nov 1974 47383/74 Heading F2V A valve includes a member 6 which by means of a stud 14 carries a sealing member 13 engageable with a seat 17 to close the valve with a part of the stud within the confines of the seating, the member 6 having a shroud 21 surrounding the sealing member, in which an aperture 26 is formed leading from the interface between the sealing member and the member 6 to the valve outlet 3. The member 6 may be of plastics material and is threaded to receive a spindle at 12 and prevented from rotating by a non-circular external form (e.g. hexagonal) (27) which engages slideably in a similar female form of the valve body. The enlarged head 14 of the stud and the axial hole 25 reduce water hammer and the axial hole provides for pressure balance across the closure member to prevent a tendency to self opening.
