Abstract

1424860 Vehicle doors VAPOR CORP 10 April 1973 [6 July 1972] 17168/73 Heading B7J [Also in Divisions E1-E2] In door operating mechanism for a rail or road vehicle, a door opening 59 (Fig. 6) in the side wall of the vehicle is selectively opened and closed by at least one door 60, 61, the mechanism for actuating the door(s) comprising upper (80) and lower (81) levers pivotally mounted at their inner ends interiorly of the vehicle, the door(s) being pivotally mounted at upper and lower ends to the outer ends of the leaves, guide means 71, 88 being mounted on the vehicle adjacent the door(s). Follower means 72, 89 extend from each door 60, 61 and coact with the guide means 71, 88 respectively, the guide means providing during the closing movement of the door(s) an approximate parallelogram movement for the first approximate 90% of the door closing movement. Movement of the door(s) is effected by a door actuator 75 having an output shaft 79 and linkage arms 77, 87 connecting the output shaft 79 to each door to drive the door(s) between open and closed positions. Fig. 1 illustrates another embodiment wherein a single door panel 25 is actuated by a lower lever arm 32 through a linkage from a door actuator 39. An upper lever arm 30 is connected at one end to the door panel 25 and at the other end to a vertical shaft 31 which extends through the centre of the vehicle 20.
