Abstract

1424493 Cable clamps AMP Inc 9 May 1974 [4 June 1973] 20451/74 Heading H2E A strain relief device for releasable connection to a connector housing 2 comprises first and second members 20 and 22 each having a pair of parallel spaced legs 24, 26 and 74, 76 with a laterally extending foot 30, 32, 80, 82 at the free end, the feet having a rounded heel and those of the first member extending in the same direction with those of the second member extending in the opposite direction, a recess 44, 94 in each body together defining an aperture, means for connecting the bodies together and permitting adjustment of the size of the aperture, the legs of both members being adapted to pass through apertures 14, 16 of the housing 2 with the heels of one pair of feet immediately adjacent respective heels of the other pair of feet. The two members 20, 22 are similar each comprising a body 28, 78 as well as a clearance hole 56, 106 and a blind hole 60, 110, a flange 42, 92 and flange-bearing shoulders 54, 104. On assembly the members are held with the heels of each pair adjacent but with the bodies 28, 78 from each other so that the feet can be inserted into the apertures 14, 16 and conductor wires (8) terminated in passageways 4 can extend between the recesses 44, 94; screws (58, 62) are inserted in the holes 106, 60 and 56, 110 to draw the bodies 28, 78 together and clamp the wires in the aperture defined by the recesses. A stop 34 &c. on each leg 24 &c. limits entry of the legs into the apertures 14, 16.
